My Story…

I chose dog grooming after working in Kennels and Vet offices as a teenager. The flexibilty and instant gratification was super attractive to me. I began as a bather and worked up to apprentice. Fortunately I was surrounded by very talented, experienced groomers that helped me build a quality foundation of skills.

After 10 years grooming full time and raising a family I started to feel the ache of burn out. I joined the local groomers association (as an active board member for many years) and went to my first trade show. It totally inspired me to not just continue grooming, but to be the best groomer I could be. I found the courage to start testing to become a Nationally Certified Master Groomer.

Once I became a NCMG I was bitten by the competition bug and attended every seminar, or hands on clinic, that was available to me. Learning from various sources such as top competition groomers , show breeders, skin and coat classes, business solutions, marketing advisors, and more sources which grew my confidence and changed my thinking completely! My family and I sacrificed a lot over the years to travel and pursue what had turned into a true passion for this industry.

I opened my own salon and had a mission to offer high end services and employ groomers that wanted to grow and be the best groomers they could. I learned how to build a work family and book your clients a year in advance. I started hosting speakers and classes which inspired me to start participating teaching, after so many years of educating myself.

Moving to Arizona has encouraged me to pursue my next goal to become a full time coach for groomers. With everything going on the last few years I was pressured (by my oldest son, a filmaker) to take the leap of creating videos for Youtube and become more active online. He supported me through the struggles of being camera shy and produced content that made me so proud. After 30 years I truly want to continue contributing to this community even though my body does not. I decided to work for Ryan’s Pet Supplies assisting distributors and groomers choose supplies for their businesses and to stay connected and learn that side of pet business.

2022 was an incredible start for Liz Sizzers and I was humbled to be welcomed into the AZ continuing education community.

I am loving this new chapter in my life it fills my heart with joy to assist my peeps in any and all areas they are stuggling in or want to perfect!

Thank you for the love and support, you honor me when you chose me to be apart of your journey to success!

P.S.

Why Liz Sizzers? My name is Liz Hampton and as a child I had many nicknames. I was know as Lizy, Lizard, Lizbut, Siz and Sizzers. My dad frequently would say “Sizzers… you’re so sharp” and laugh out loud. I would tell him he was ridiculous and chuckle. I specialize in scissoring ironically. He passed away a few years ago and I wanted to honor him and honestly it makes me smile to say it:)
